Foothills Hockey Association offers scholarship opportunities to our members in good standing with the organization. The intent of our scholarship program is to off-set a member’s registration fees by applying $780 (or the full registration fee, whichever is LESS) toward the registration fees for the upcoming season. A minimum of one scholarship and a maximum of five scholarships will be distributed in any given year. The exact number is contingent upon the success of the association’s fundraising efforts and must be approved by the voting members of the FHA Board of Directors. To qualify for a scholarship, each applicant must:
1. Be a member in good-standing with the Association
2. Have completed at least one full season with FHA and must be categorized as a “returning member”. Families skating with FHA for the first time are not eligible to apply for a scholarship
3. Agree that if they are awarded a scholarship, and leave FHA during the same season, the scholarship must be re-paid in-full
4. Upon receipt of the scholarship, agree to a provide a minimum of 10 hours volunteer service to the association
Each scholarship is awarded on the perceived need for financial assistance as determined by the FHA BOD. Families wishing to be considered must complete this application and return it to PRIOR TO APRIL 8, 2009. Those who have been selected will be notified prior to June 1, 2009 and will receive a credit in the amount of $780 (or the full registration fee, whichever is LESS) toward the upcoming season registration fees. Please be advised, the scholarship program is intended to assist those in financial need and provide an opportunity for children that would not otherwise be able to play. Therefore, the $780 secures the applicant a position in the association only. For those that apply, are selected, and opt to play travel, the balance of the registration fee will be due prior to the first team practice in September.
